I brought the sheet music for “It’s a Short Life” sung by Toki Asako, arranged for a jazz trio.
This adorable, bouncy tune is built on a simple 1625 chord progression, making it an easy jazz piece. If you can play a bit of jazz piano, even beginners will have fun with this — and you’ll probably get even better as you go!
When you listen to the original recording, you’ll notice it starts with the bass playing on its own. Try practicing that section by playing the bass line with your left hand on the piano along with the written bass line in the sheet music.
