Beatbox Flute Quartet & Piano · Arranged by Yu-Tai Cheng
Music by Klaus Badelt / Hans Zimmer
A film-music favorite, rebuilt for four flutes and piano. In this arrangement the flutes play melody and rhythm at the same time: beatbox sounds carry the groove in every part, so the ensemble moves like a drum kit and a band in one.
The medley travels through contrasting moods. It opens with a fast, driving 6/8 groove, slows into a calm, lyrical section, then returns to the opening energy. Later sections, including one marked The Black Pearl, bring in rhythmic vocal syllables such as cha, chu and hu, and the finish builds to a loud, accented climax.
The score uses beatbox notation under the flute lines, so players can see exactly when to add each sound. The piano part provides the harmony and weight underneath.
