This is a very touching requested song. 

Even though a melody of a song is a sixteenth note, you do not have to go with a basic rhythm at 16 beats. Play it at 8 beats, but right-handed improvisation should be played at 16 beats. Then you will hear nice and clear the sound of 16 beats. 

Don't go with only a single note in a left hand, but play it together with 1 note and 7 note. Then you will be able to get more options to play colorfully in a right hand. I usually do 1 note and 7 note together, but occasionally 1, 5 or 1, 6 are also my options to play together.
