Last December, Arataki Itto made his debut, and I completed his story quest as soon as I pulled him out from his banner. After watching the story of the blue oni and the crimson oni, I was awed by the blue oni’s determination of self-sacrifice and warmed by Itto’s enthusiasm, sincerity and strong sense of justice. Although parting is full of suffering, the lingering warmth of loving memories from the past still help to console our souls. Perhaps you have also had a friend who suddenly disappeared. The process of making the music sheet was relatively smooth; after all, there are only a few chords and the rhythm is quite straightforward. The main difficulty in playing lies in balancing the rhythm of the left-hand arpeggios; the simpler the score looks at first glance, the more it will test the performer’s grasp of balance. The last few cross-handed chords also need to be played clearly and smoothly. Compared to the original piece, I slowed down the ritardando at the end to add some sense of yearning. So, here’s a gift for Itto’s comeback; hope he likes it!
