Music by Wang Liping
Piano arrangement by Fei
This piece is originally a song from the TV adaption from 1987 of a Chinese classical literature, “Dream of the Red Chamber” 《红楼梦》,written in the 18th century. It is one of the most important and my favorite Chinese novel that I still try to study its meaning everyday.
The lyrics are from the original novel as a poem created and spoken by the female protagonist, Lin Daiyu 林黛玉, while she was burying the fallen flowers. The music and poem sad yet powerful, sweet while magnificent.
As I was creating this piano version, I felt like having an intimate conversation with the writer, composer, and character of the piece, which transcends time and space. Hope you enjoy it 🌸
Fei
