Description
This is a solo piano arrangement of IU’s “October 4th.” 🪽
Throughout the piece, the melody moves between octaves, adding different shades to the feeling of remembering my younger self.
Con rubato means letting the tempo breathe with the music rather than keeping every beat strictly even. The tempo markings for each phrase and the rit. markings are there to reflect that flow.
In the opening, it helps to pay attention to the rhythm of the melody. In the middle section, the movement of the notes in the left-hand arpeggios is worth a closer look.
The octave melody in the later section flows lightly and without tension, then gradually slows at the final rit., leaving a lingering resonance. 🤍
