Artist Jessie Murph
“Pray Sheet Music”
The track is transcribed in the original key, F Minor, and uses basic major and minor chords Fm A♭ E♭ B♭ C.
Its cyclical chord change (loop) highlights melodic development.
The non-harmonic C chord is used to freshen up the sound.
“Pray” is composed with straight rhythm in the common time. The first verse uses triplets. Accent strong beats.
I doubled note values to make sightreading easier for beginners.
The left-hand provides an accompaniment with chords close to the original instrumental version.
The right hand imitates vocal delivery by Jessie Murph: the predominant articulation is tenuto.
In slurred passages, descending inflections are played diminuendo >, but ascending vocal portamento are played crescendo <.
Focus on precise rhythm in the rap part (the second verse). Rap is tiring to play with forte touch; play pianissimo.
There are many places of an indefinite pitch.
Notice fermata (𝄐). Hold the pause one measure.
Much of the song’s aesthetic value is generated through stepwise motion that reminds of human speech.
