'Die Fledermaus' Overture (for Cello and Piano)-Johann Strauss II

Johann Strauss II’s dazzling “Die Fledermaus Overture” is presented here in a vibrant duo arrangement for solo instrument and piano, faithfully preserving the original structure and sparkling theatrical flair. The solo instrument performs the main melodic themes, navigating the brilliant waltz passages and lively operetta motifs with clarity and elegance. The piano accompaniment carries the remaining musical elements, artfully blending textures from both the original piano reduction and the orchestral score to recreate the festive Viennese atmosphere within a chamber setting. Certain passages have been adjusted to suit each instrument’s range, ensuring idiomatic writing while maintaining the overture’s dramatic sweep and rhythmic vitality. Ideal for advanced recital programs and gala performances seeking virtuosic brilliance and operatic charm. The required positions extend up to 7th position for violin, 5th position for viola, and 7th position for cello, offering expansive expressive range and advanced technical challenge.
