Beschreibung
Christmas Jazz Medley No. 2
for Clarinet Quintet
Five beloved carols, five clarinets, and the warmth and sparkle of Christmas.
This medley brings familiar Christmas melodies to life through the rich, expressive sound of a clarinet ensemble. A bold opening, lively rhythms, and moments of quiet lyricism lead to a bright jazz-waltz finale, creating an engaging musical journey for the festive season.
The joyful celebration of Angels We Have Heard on High, the distinctive minor-key character of God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, the gentle beauty of What Child Is This?, the grandeur of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, and the cheerful greetings of We Wish You a Merry Christmas come together in one continuous performance. These recognizable melodies make the medley welcoming and enjoyable for audiences of all ages.
The pleasure of playing together
The arrangement suits players with previous ensemble experience. Groups familiar with swing and syncopation can bring additional energy and character to the music. The solo passage may be performed as written, while players with jazz experience can add their own interpretation.
Recommended for
• Community clarinet ensembles preparing Christmas or year-end concerts
• School and university clarinet ensembles and student chamber groups
• Clarinet sections presenting a featured small-ensemble performance
• Professional and local chamber ensembles seeking seasonal repertoire
With no separate accompaniment required, five musicians can present a complete performance in a wide variety of settings. The medley is well suited to concert programs, church Christmas celebrations, community events, foyer performances, and intimate seasonal gatherings.
For audiences, it offers the pleasure of familiar melodies. For performers, it offers the joy of listening, responding, and making music together.
