KONO MICHI (This Path) (SATB Choir) - Hakushū Kitahara Kōsaku Yamada

Arrangement for mixed four-part chorus and piano.
(SATB, with divisi in each part)

“Kono Michi,” with lyrics by Hakushū Kitahara and music by Kōsaku Yamada, is widely loved as a lyrical Japanese song and is included in 100 Best Japanese Songs.

In keeping with Hakushū Kitahara’s lyrics, I have given each of the four verses a different harmonic treatment. While maintaining good balance, I hope the choir will sing naturally and fully bring out the melody.

The interlude has also been given a substantial length, creating an atmosphere that allows performers and listeners to immerse themselves in the world of the piece.
