I Will Sing-Donya Brockway

I came out again with another worship song!

Talking about sixth-eight time over and over again, but it does not work out as you wish does it?

When I am marking the beat, I do not write as 8/6, but 6/8. It will make sense if you think of it as a fraction, which is upper / is numerator and below / is denominator. That is why the form is 6/8.

The way to find the biggest cause of error is solved by looking at the number of beats. I am pretty sure you already studied the concept of binary time or triple time in music class at school back in the days!

The moment you believe 3/4 and 6/8 is the same is when you make a mistake. 3/4 is the concept of triple time. ♩ =1 beat so ♩ ♩ ♩ should be counted as one two three, but do not believe that 6/8 is a repeat of of 3/4 times.

♩.  ♩. should be counted as one two because ♩. is 1 beat. This is why 6/8 is called binary time series. ♩. ♩. = Counting in two like this and in detail, count like  ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪ = one two three two three...

In this song, you should count a bar in two so make sure if you are playing as you are listening.

I did 8 intro bars for this song but you can do 4

The chord is clearly marked with a linecliche so you have to keep an eye on it!

Additional explanation

This song is a twelve-eights time song. I accidentally said this song is 6/8 instead of 12/8. I did not get a chance to edit the video but I did for sheet music, but actually it does not make a big difference because two bars of six-eight time is twelve-eights

Six-eights time = ♩. ♩.

Twelve-eight time =  ♩. ♩. ♩. ♩.

Think of it as 4/4, but ♩.  =1.

Thank you!
