The First Noel (Ballad Arrangement (Key of D, C, Bb))-(UMH) 245

"The First Noel" is a traditional English Christmas carol dating back to the 13th century. It is likely one of the oldest carols celebrating the birth of Jesus, capturing the heavenly message delivered to the shepherds in the fields. Rather than using flowery language, it sings of the joy of "Noel" (birth) in a pure, simple melody that was first shared with those keeping watch over their flocks at night. In 2026, while the true meaning of Christmas can often be buried under the noise of the season, this hymn reminds us of the humility and love of the Lord who descends into the low places of our souls. I pray that as you play, the joy of that night under the starry sky resonates through your keys. May your performance bring light and hope to those walking through dark nights.

The first verse is melody-centered, and the second verse is played with a full, climactic feel. The original key is D; I have also included versions in C and Bb.
