Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling (Ballad Style Arrangement (Key of Ab, G, F))-(UMH) 348

"Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling," written and composed by Will L. Thompson in 1880, is a hymn that contains a sincere and affectionate invitation message, reminiscent of the Parable of the Prodigal Son. The melody captures the warm voice of Jesus calling, "Come back," to souls weary after long wandering. When we are lost, the Lord never gives up on us. In 2026, this hymn allows us to hear His subtle voice, which is often hidden amidst the noise of the world. His patience and mercy, awaiting us with the love of the Cross, are the only hope for us as sinners. I hope you experience holy restoration as you play this hymn, returning your soul to the Lord's arms. He is still waiting for you today.

The sheet music provided follows the ballad version starting at 01:00 in the video. The original key is Ab, but the performance is in G. This arrangement is melody-centered for congregational worship and avoids excessive jazz chords. It is not suitable for choirs as it is not in 4-part harmony, but it is excellent for solo piano worship or prayer times.
