"Like the Sun in the Day, Like the Moon at Night" is a precious confession of faith in the history of Korean CCM. Written and composed by Choi Yong-deok in the 1980s, this song connects the providence of God within the laws of nature to our own lives. The lyrics, asking, "Can't I live like the sun in the day and the moon at night?" do not simply sing about nature but contain an earnest prayer to emulate the humble, silent obedience of fulfilling one's duty in their appointed place without greed. While we often strive to be the flashy protagonists, the Lord teaches us the path of "silent love" and "humble service" that a believer should fulfill in the world, much like the sun and moon that faithfully do their part in light and darkness. In 2026, even though our society demands things that are faster and more visible, this song reminds us of how valuable it is to practice the Lord's love in the lowest and quietest places. Just as the sun and moon light up the world while keeping their place every day, I hope we live lives that act as salt and light by walking with the Lord.
