The Old Rugged Cross (Special Performance 3-Stave Sheet Music (Key of F))-(UMH) 363

"The Old Rugged Cross," written and composed by George Bennard in 1913, is one of the most beloved hymns about the Cross. It is said that Bennard received the melody and lyrics while deeply meditating on the suffering and victory of the Cross after a revival meeting in Michigan. Confessing the rugged wooden cross as a "precious love," this hymn reminds us that following the Lord's shame is more valuable than worldly glory. The Cross is not merely an instrument of punishment, but a sign of eternal salvation confirming God's love for all humanity. In 2026, as the true meaning of the Cross fades, this hymn powerfully delivers the call: "Take up your own cross and follow Me." May this piece be a reminder that even if the cross seems rough, walking with the Lord makes it the most beautiful paradise.

The original key is Bb. I produced this in F as requested. Please note that the video performance is in key A.

“And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” (Mark 8:34)
