While Hymn 622 in the Korean hymnal is notated in 4/4 time, the original classic is written in 12/8 time. To truly capture the grandeur and the profound reverence of the Nativity, I have restored the original 12/8 time signature in this Jini Worship arrangement.
This piece is a timeless masterpiece. To properly express the holiness, majesty, and deep gratitude surrounding the birth of Jesus, this arrangement focuses on the unique, flowing nature of the original melody rather than a stiff, simplified version.
Finding a suitable piano accompaniment for "O Holy Night" can be challenging. Playing standard four-part choral arrangements on the piano often lacks the necessary depth and fails to capture the essential triplet rhythm that defines this carol.
My arrangement is specifically designed for congregational worship in a church setting. Instead of over-complicating it with jazz chords that might distract from the song's intent, I focused on creating a supportive, graceful piano accompaniment that allows the congregation to sing with full hearts.
Performance Note: The piano part features a continuous dialogue of triplets between the left and right hands. When the left hand is resting, the right hand carries the triplets, and vice-versa. Therefore, it is important to balance the volume so that the interplay remains smooth and seamless.
