This arrangement is designed for churches with limited resources, specifically for a setting with just one worship leader and one pianist—much like our own church.
While some worship leaders are musically advanced, many find it challenging to navigate complex jazz chords or intricate rhythms. Even though I personally love playing funk, I stick to the shuffle rhythm for our pre-service worship because it is familiar and comfortable for the congregation.
Worship accompaniment isn't a stage for the pianist to show off their skills. It’s not about how flashy the music is; it’s about creating a space where the congregation can truly focus on the lyrics and have their hearts stirred by the worship.
This arrangement might not be flashy or highly stylized, but I’ve decided to share it in the hope that it might serve as a helpful tool for other pianists serving in small-church settings.
