This is an arrangement of the globally cherished classic hymn, "Thou, My Everlasting Portion" (also known as "Close to Thee"). The original key is G major, but I have also prepared transposed versions in the lower keys of F and E major to provide a more comfortable and stable vocal range for your congregation.

This hymn is an absolute favorite, widely performed by various worship ministries and acoustic artists for its deeply poetic and comforting nature. Because it has such a beautiful melodic foundation, some contemporary groups even reshape its time signature into a steady 4/4 modern beat to sing it at a faster tempo. Leading and sharing this beautiful confession with the congregation always brings profound grace to the sanctuary.

If I had designed this sheet music for a solo vocal cover or an expressive piano exhibition piece, I would have definitely added highly unique and colorful jazz reharmonizations to showcase creative aesthetics. However, the primary purpose of this specific arrangement is to fully support congregational singing during main traditional services. I focused on structuring clean, supportive harmonies that clearly define the main melody on the keys. I sincerely hope this serves as a practical and blessed resource for smaller churches where a solo pianist leads the entire worship service.
