Great Wall Capriccio

本曲以中國民謠《長城謠》為主題，發展為四段變奏，除演奏價值外，也非常適合作為風格教學素材。第一段模仿巴赫時期的卡農技巧，需留意聲部之間的呼應與線條清晰；第二段模仿莫札特，採用阿爾貝堤低音，右手旋律帶有古典時期單純具歌唱性的特色；第三段呈現海頓式的幽默風格，短小動機的表情與停頓時機會讓人會心一笑；最後一段轉為圓舞曲（三拍子），並加入更多臨時記號，整體色彩也更活潑。此曲不僅是演奏作品，也適合用來介紹不同作曲家風格、變奏寫作與音樂語言的轉換。

Based on the Chinese folk song "The Great Wall Ballad," this piece presents four variations and serves well as both performance repertoire and a teaching tool for stylistic awareness. The first variation imitates Baroque canon writing, requiring attention to the dialogue and clarity of voice leading. The second evokes Mozart with an Alberti bass and a right-hand melody of simple, singing Classical character. The third captures Haydn's wit, where the timing of short motifs and pauses invites a knowing smile. The final variation transforms into a waltz in triple meter with richer accidentals and a brighter palette. This work is especially valuable for introducing different

compositional styles, variation technique, and shifts in musical language.
