Description
“Melancholinista” is YUKI's 13th single.
Lyrics: YUKI / Music: Yoshimichi Tsutaya
Theme song for Kao's “Essential Damage Care” commercial
Release Date: January 25, 2006
The single includes the title track “Melancholinista,” along with a remix and an instrumental version. Composed by Yoshimichi Tsutaya, it is a lively dance track incorporating elements of disco and funk. The title “Melancholinista” is a neologism coined by YUKI. Regarding the song, she stated, “I just wanted to make something you could dance to, so I kept the lyrics fairly meaningless.”[1]
The music video alternates between shots of YUKI herself and men dressed in traditional costumes from around the world dancing.
The album cover features a nude portrait of YUKI holding a goat, with her nipples slightly visible—a rather striking image.
