Merry Go Round of Life (25-String Gayageum Two-Hand Performance / C Minor / Retuning Required / 2 pages)-Joe Hisaishi

Joe Hisaishi’s “Merry Go Round of Life” from Howl’s Moving Castle, arranged by 1225가야금 for two-hand performance on 25-string gayageum in C minor.

The original is in G minor with two flats; this version is in C minor with three flats. Retune string 9 from F to F♯ and string 11 from A♭ to A. To make solo performance easier while retaining the original’s sweet waltz feel, the bass notes are plucked one at a time.

Enjoy the piece’s melody through the warm, soft sound of the gayageum.
